dsb or regular?

i am setting up a sps tank and i was wondering if it was harder to maintain a dsb than a regular. i plan on having a jawfish so i want to know if it's hard.

DSB so it can hold your jawfish and aid in the biological filtration.

With the right livestock, you never need to maintain it. Every morning my tank looks like a japanese garden with all of the trails in the sand.

The jawfish will be detrimental to the function of a Deep Sand Bed, but with a jawfish you will need to have at least 3-4" of substrate (don't use crushed coral or anything either, use a finer grade sand, with a little courser stuff mixed in, jawfish will like having a variety of sizes of "chunks" to use in constructing their burrows. So techinically you'll have a deeper sandbed, but may not function as a nitrate removing sandbed , at least not as well as if there were no jawfish. personal opinion, love the jawfish, miss my last yellowhead that "disappeared" (I think he dug the wrong way under the wrong rock....crushed)

By regular do you mean bare bottom or only a couple inches of sand?

I guess my line of thinking is that if you are going to have sand in a tank and deal with the mess it can sometimes cause.. why not make it a functional part of the ecosystem?
