How often can you change aquascaping?
So I added my initial 70lbs of live rock to my tank kind of haphazardly. It's a giant rock wall, with a cool cave area in the middle. But its only because with my first tank experience, I was a little apprehensive about tying things together, and apoxy on rocks. I have a feeling eventually I may re-arrange things, so its a little nicer.
How detrimental is that to the life in the rock? And will it bother the stuff in my tank? I've read here about people moving tanks, or just re-doing things. Any advice? |

I service and move aquariums... changing the rockwork will deffiantately stir up some detrius, amomia, nitrates etc but if you just started it you should be fine... if you can constantly turn over live rock to expose other side to light... most of the time you just can and is often neglected...

As many times as you like. I've changed mine several times in the past 4 years. Just as recently as 2 weeks ago. I'll move it, be happy with it for a while, and then want a change. If you're just starting out with no livestock then that's even better. It was a pain rearranging rock and keeping track of my critters. Trying not to crush them with the water getting cloudy. There are a bunch of reasons to do so. This last changeover for me was to break-up territory. I'm gonna add a couple of new fish soon and my royal granma had pretty much claimed most of the tank as hers, but with this new lay-out she's now chosen only one cave to patrol.
Just think, this is your little slice of the ocean and it should look however you want it to. |
