pump isn't working!

hello,

i just bought a brand new 100 gallon set up (pictures coming soon!).

i just finished filling it and the sump with water, and i was so excited to hit the pump for the first time to get it going... but the pump isn't sucking water!

it's a brand new iwaki pump that will turn on... it just isn't pumping water. i can hear it on and the motor is working, but no water is coming out.

all of my connections look perfect. we ran a test run in my LFS and it worked perfectly 2 days ago.

do i need to bleed air out of the pump? does anyone have any thoughts on what i could do to get it pumping water?

please help!

thanks

You probably need to prime the pump, that means get water into the motor some how, it wont just start sucking water in.

I sometimes have to try and push water into the pump from the sump side.
I just push water at the hole, going to the pump with my hand.

You may be able to use a powerhead to shoot water into it to get it to prime. I'm not sure if it will work or not, but would be an easy solution to get the water in there.
