Live Phytoplankton - whats the deal - good or bad?
I mean I know Phytoplankton is the ocean's building block. So it would only make sense for us to somehow add it to our tank for the overall health of things.
I've used Reef Nutrition's Live Phytoplankton just a few times. The last time I used it, it basically killed my prized orange yuma and made the rest of my zoas look like they were dead. The stuff I bought was brand new and didn't expire for well over a month. Could I perhaps used too much? Could it have been bad? It did have a bit more of a fishy smell than I had remembered it ever having. But didn't really smell spoiled. I have not used it since. Thoughts?

I do not believe adding phytoplankton to a tank is beneficial, unless you are trying to feed something specific which relies on it.
I discuss my reasons why here: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...&pagenumber=23

If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. I remember when zoanthids were called things like "green" and "orange" and not "reverse gorilla nipple." Current Tank Info: 180g reef with all the bells and whistles |
