yellow watchman goby is a pain.

My new YWG keeps going into my overflow. He has done it 3 times now in 2 days. He is not getting bullied around. I just have a false perc. and a bicolor blenny. I was worried about the bicolor picking on him, but they were getting along fine so far. The YWG is only about an inch and a half long and he can fit perfectly between the teeth on my overflow. I just got him out and put him in my fuge. Any suggestions on how to keep him out of the overflow? thanks for any help.

Is he sick or acting wierd, other than diving into the overflow. There usually Very calm and stay near the bottom of the tank (well mine does anyway).

I just got him. He was at my lfs for 2 weeks and was doing fine there. When he is in the display he will sick to the glass and never really go to the bottom. Yesterday he had found a rock to sit on so I thought he was doing better but then this morning he was in the overflow again. He also wouldn't eat anything.

Lol, I am having the same exact problem. Got mine from LiveAquaria and he goes over the overflow about every other night. I treid to agg crate the overflow, but he goes through the teeth. Gonna try gutter guard next.

i had a cleaner goby do that untill it met its demise. Found the carpet instead of the overflow.

where can you get gutter guard? Does any one think that screen window material would work? the non metal kind of course. I am not sure what it is made out of though. I think it is some sort of plastic.

I've had friends use the nonmetalic screen before with success. Only trick is getting it to stick to the overflow and making sure that you have the screen acting like a mechanical filter, slowing down your overflow.

Tonight is the first night that I've had my solaris and have been able to watch the tank at night under actinics. Holy cow! Its like my watchman got into some fish catnip. I am just amazed at how a fish that keeps under a rock all day is so active at night. This guy is everywhere. Its no wonder he keeps finding the overflow.

I have a solaris too, I had goby that jumped out of the tank twice. The second time he managed to jump out after I put the lid on! He didn't survive the second jump. Sigh......

My YWG did the same thing about 5 times. After getting sick of fishing him out of the overflow I covered the overflow intake teeth with a plastic mesh. I don't know what it is called but I got it at the craft store. I believe it is a mesh that gets covered with yarn (needle point ) maybe.

I found a pvc gutter guard at homedepot. Looks like it should work. I will probably just tie it to the overflow teeth with fishing line. Should work out fine.

I have had my clown, 1 of my damsels, a peppermint shrimp and some snails all make it to my sump. My sump is in my basement and how they all survived that trip is beyond me but I just keep putting them back in the main tank. I have not done anything to prevent it from happening yet.
