Aquascaping: Artistic vs Traditional
Just want to see what people views are on the topic or share their experience.
I have to admit some of the 'Bonsai' style, e.g. 2 pillars of LR, tank are extremely cool and beautiful. If I have the chance to do a new tank it would be something I consider. However, looking at them I think they are more suited for the SPS collectors, as well as the collection of corals can be limited. I also wonder for a more mature tank would the SPS at the top start shading out the inhabitants below. My current aquascape is of the traditional style, open rock wall. To men this style is much more functional than the 'Bonsai' style granted it does not look as cool and beautiful..... |

I like the minimalist look. I tried it in my new tank, but still have too much LR IMO. If you plan accordingly and place corals in the "right" spot to grow out shading can be kept to a minimum. For instance, I keep monti cap's low because they can get big quick and shade out alot of what's below them.
