Fish with ICH, no QT... What to do?
I saw juvenile blue hippo tangs for sale at my LFS. I have long planned to have one of these in my tank, but they are already covered with ICH!! I know that they are ich magnets, but they had around 30 of them and they all had ich!! I do not have a QT tank so I do not know what I should do.
For everyone without a QT tank, what do you do if you buy a fish or already own a fish with ich?? Does the fish recover on its own or does the ich spread to all other tank mates? |

Do NOT put a fish with ich into your display tank. It will spread to the other fish and kill them too.
If you really want one of those tangs, be prepared to purchase a used 29 gallon tank (or larger) to use for quarantine and then read all the RC threads on ich and how to cure it. However, it is still much better to purchase a healthy tang. Even then, you need to quarantine them. Joyce Last edited by Macimage; 03/31/2008 at 05:47 PM. |

personally i think tangs are going to stress enough after being bought or shipped to get ich....weather they have it or not.
i've seen a tang thats been in QT & long cured of ich have it pop up again in a ich free tank just from being moved. |
