How often should you change out your carbon?

Tank is 5 days old and going through the cycle. Should I wait till the cycle is over to change out the carbon? How often should you change out the carbon normally?

i asked the same question on the chemical forum about 2 weeks ago, the guys on there all had different change times, in general 4-8 weeks is the norm but boomer said something interesting, he stated that it was best to take the carbon out and rinse it weekly to keep it working properly

I have recently read that a good way to tell if the carbon is exhausted is to: take a glass of tank water and hold it up to a white piece of paper...if there is a color differene, then its time for a carbon exchange.
