Need plumbing advise please

I'm new here and this is my first experience with a tank and definitely plumbing on my own, so be gentle!

I got the tank filled and I'm having some issues that I don't know how to deal with and don't want to do it wrong (again).

OK, so I seem to have the megaflow plumbing operational, but nowhere in the directions do I see what level to adjust the standpipe within the overlow. What's a good guideline? Here is mine currently:

I screwed up on my plumbing design. The way I set this up, there is no water diverting into my fuge line! DUH!!! So, what's the best way to fix this...by adding another valve lower down the vertical pipe? Is that safe to do so long as I leave the other one completely open?

Finally, the overflow into the sump seems to be VERY loud. I've never operated a tank with a sump before, but it is way louder than I thought it woudl be. There is a lot of splash. I have a 45 on the bottom of it so it doesn't fall directly into the sump water, but it seems extreme to me.

I'm taking it you have a seperate tank as a refugium? Can you take a pic of the whole setup below the tank? Just want to give the right advice before assuming.

yes thats fine like you said leave the other open. as far as the drop into the overflow a couple to three inches will be quieter.

Try a reverse durso on your overflow pipe into the sump.There might be a picture of one in my gallery.
It does a great job at quieting falling water.

I should also probably tell you that it is a 65g tank, running a mag 9.5

What I'd do or atleast I did in the past that worked great. I had my water come into the right side had a micro bubble baffle up. Then it the middle are where your return pumps at, I had my refugium. Then another baffle setup then in the third section my return pump. For the water coming into the sump/refugium I'd also use a filter sock.

That is a good alternative but given that I already have the sump put together this way I would like to find some way I can tweak it.
