Please Read About Purchasing Live Rock And Save Yourself Alot of Regret
Hello Everybody,
I just wanted to place a post out here about my recent Live Rock and Live Sand purchase from Tampa Bay Saltwater, I cannot type enough about how amazing this live rock and live sand is, I just wish I would have purchased it for my 55G I have setup. I purchased it for my 40G I have had sitting in my basement, so I went ahead and set it up and was looking around on here for different places to purchase live rock and found them. The rock I have purchased in the past comes no where near comparison to this rock, the fact that it is shipped via airline freight, its basically only boxed for a few hours if you pick it up right away, and its packed underwater, so for the most part there isn't a huge amount of die-off and the amount of life that comes with it, oh my, I pulled a piece of rock out of the box and looked at it and could not believe the amount of life on their, sponges, worms, corals, algae's, snails, the list goes on and on, just visit there website and look at their list of rock hitch hikers because that list is real, I ended up with a bunch of snails and a cucumber for invertebrates plus tons of other worms and what not. I just want to make sure people don't end up regretting purchasing there rock somewhere else after they see this stuff, simply amazing, save yourself the trouble and do it right, purchase from www.tampabaysaltwater.com and you will not be disappointed, they even include a bag of bacteria to help seed your tank, I believe that's what that was. But anyway, I am sure I am not the only person out here that has had the same awesome experience with these guys. Thanks again Rich for the BEAUTIFUL ROCK! Like I said before, I could type all day about how satisfied I am with my purchase, so trust me, if you need Live Rock or Live Sand, go to Tampa Bay Saltwater!!! |

There's a huge thread by wooglin in the beginner forum about TBS rock.
I got mine in 2002 and most of the stuff on it is still alive. Things like sponges people said would die didn't. It is awesome rock...good luck with yours and don't stay up too late at night looking for hitchhikers! |

Boy tampa bay saltwater has been around forever if I remember straight. Maybe I will order a few pounds just to spice things up... I think it's nice when specialized threads wander out of their forums once in a while, it's good for variety.
If I recall correctly, I remember being 12 years old and cruizing their website on our dialup internet connection, looking at pictures of how they were dumping tons of dry rock into an offshore site they lease. I think this is probably one of the best ways to harvest live rock from the ocean, mainly for the reason that they are only continually pulling it from a specific site and not wandering all over the reefs digging stuff up that looks good. I'm not sure if it actually is beneficial to the ocean that they dump in stuff they dug up on dry land; I'm sure their main motivation is that the peices are already the right size so they can just go down and remove them easily. Widmer, Ya, I watched that video and thought it was really cool how they harvested their own rock, and when they showed what it looked like just after a few weeks or something like that was amazing, plus looking at their facility is really neat. I originally ordered 40 pounds just to seed my other live rock I purchased that is not that great and to test them out, as well as 20 pounds of sand, I think thats what I ordered, anyway after I ordered it I was looking at a 40G tank and stand I had in the basement and couldn't resist. |

Looks like a pretty cool place. May have to consider ordering from there.
