CO2 reactor for Ozone
Hi all,
I have been doing some research on the matter but wanted some real world opinions. I am in the process of getting my system ready for ozone I already have the ozone generator my dilemma is applying it. I don’t want to dose it via my skimmer for various reason (improper contact time, flow rate etc..) . I am looking at setting up a CO2 reactor for my ozone; I am thinking that the Aqua Medic 1000 CO2 reactor might be a good choice http://www.marinedepot.com/ps_ViewIt...roduct=AQ7531. I want to know what reactors are being used by people with good results. Also I am thinking instead of running a media reactor with carbon does anyone simply use a coil system instead allowing the ozone to completely disperse before returning into the sump. Thanks in advance |

I had this setup for a while with the air and water post filters. It was awesome. I sold it when I decided not to run ozone.

I came across that and it looks great but I lack the realestate that it takes. Thanks for the suggestion though.

The problem with reactors is that they generate so much back pressure. You need a strong psi air pump, limestone diffuser and external water flow.
I ended piping my ozone through my skimmer and it worked much better without any additional equipment and actually raised my orp readings whereas with the reactor, nothing was happening except constant tweeking and the smell of ozone in the air. |

Maybe I will go ahead and give it a shot using my skimmer and see what happens. I can always try a diffrent route if it just is not working. Question for you though do you run your out going water from the skimmer through carbon or just let it be.

Since I only run 50 mv of ozone through my skimmer, I was told that the effluent would be a non issue but since my skimmer is external and drains into a filter sock, I threw a bag aof carbon in the sock anyway.

Waxxiemann,
Why did you decide not to run ozone? |
