New corals?
OK, my tank is now 2 months old, and I am a beginer to corals, and seem to love them. I got some polyps, and some mushrooms (Heard they were amazing to start with). Now i was wondering, what other corals can i add. Im looking towards the pulsing xenia, is it too early for my tank? I got the 14 gallon biocube. (All i got in tank are 2 clowns, and im maybe planing on a skunk shrimp)
And 1 question. I was moving my rocks the other day, to make room for the new corals. While doing this i think i killed both of my undersand snails by crushing them. And i dont want to touch the sand too much, because i dont want the sand all over my polyps. Anyone got any ideas to make them come out of the sand so i can see if they are alive or not? |

You are ready for xenia because i had mine in my early stages but grow em under PC's because now mine are under MH and they are slow but when it was under PC it kept splitting and growing like crazy. Don't know about the snails but if they are alive they will come out eventually.

If you put a piece of raw shrimp on the bottom they will come out.
You said you have poylps but all coral have some type of poylp. I think you mean zoos. I would stay away from xenia. Look here. purple people eaters, cool. http://www.*********.com/forums/showthread.php?t=647 |

If all you want is a xenia tank and always haveing to weed it back then go ahead. Xenia area hard to control and you have little room for error. Xenia , GSP , red mushrooms can grow fast and are hard to control.

It takes a little time. They will release heads and they grow in areas you cant see and before you know it its everyware. Of course water condition helps. In proper conditions they can grow fast. If you have slow growth then this could be a sign of water quality.

you can add xenia and its nice to see the pulsating but here are some other suggestions: kenya tree colt coral toadstool mushroom pagoda coral candy cane leathers small and large mushrooms ricordia frog spawn and hammer zoos--lots of zoos--many colours, very hardy, spread fast anthelia--a mat that spreads and waves at all times also torch coral--its the one in the middle waving back and forth

Well right now, im planning on the polyps that i have already, 1 blue mushroom, and a peice of some xenia. I got just 2 questions about the xenia. If i want to see it doing the closing and opening, do i still put it infront of a current, and if i got my xenia growing on one side of a rock, and polyps on the other side, will one take over the other or will they just be good neighbors?
