What Thermometer Are You Using ???
I'm just using the coralife $15.00 cheapy. I have 2. 1 for the tank & 1 for the salt mixing can. The other day the tank read 81.4, but the other one read 79.1.
I changed them around and the same thing. I don't know which one is correct. So this is a good excuse to upgrade both thermometers. Not really worried about cost, I just want a good one. Whats everyone using???? Thanks

I use my big toe--it does fine with the bath water---and I don't have to convert Celsius to Farenheit LOL
I got tired of the cheapies so I bought two around 15 bucks each--they have big numbers too so I can read them

I got a calibrated glass thermometer from cole-parmer.com. It cost about $50 shipped, but it's accurate.

I use the pinpoint one... I have a sensor for each tank... I really like how it's wireless, and both sensors read out on one unit.

I use the $6 Coralife digital thermometers. I take all the readings to be +/- 2 degrees on any thermometer.

I use a ranco temperature controllers. But i have in the past used many different ones. Glass ones give accurate temps. If you want digital use the lifeguards either the big one or small....
Do not buy the coralife ones. They are horrible. They do not last most of the time and they are way off. I got a hole bunch cheap for my breeding tanks and everyone read different. Pure junk... Dave |

I have various controllers for my tanks including: chillers, refugium, tank itself. I calibrate these using a calibrated thermometer which I got a c from cole-parmer.com.
But, in all honesty, I use my finger mostly to feel if all seems right. I am usually able to tell 78 +/- 1 degree.

That's what I use. I compared mine with a $1200 RTD that we use in the lab where I work. It was within the specified accuracy over the whole range I tested (70-100 deg F). |
