Live Rock Curing Outside Aquarium

Hi I've recently bought LR for my aquarium, that has just finished the cycle. I know, I should've added the LR when I was cycling, but I didn't have the correct amount of funds then. Well I'm curing it outside of the aquarium now, and It's been about four weeks and the Ammonia is about 8, Nitrite 4, and Nitrate around 40. I do twice weekly 100% water changes, as stated on the care sheet given to me from LiveAquaria.com. What could I be doing wrong? Oh and I also have 2 Powerheads to circulate the water. The LR is in about a 20gallon bucket atm, but there could be a lot more room for the Live Rock.

as long as you have a heater and some powerheads going it will cure. some take longer than others depending on how much die off there was. just give it time. some can take up to 2 monthes to cure.

I agree with Sam plus in that amt of space depending on how much live rock you have in it, your measurements in ppm could be higher then if you cured it in a much bigger tank

I just bought LR from the same place and it only took a week to cure, I got some of those plastic tubs from walmart for $5 (good for storage afterwards) and used them to cure the rock. You have to scrub the rock with a brush when you do your water changes, there is all kinds of dirt and dead sponges and stuff on the rock that is dead and you need to get it off there. I just kept checking the ammonia levels and when I got no reading I put the rock in my tank ... hope this helps
