Alternative to Mag 7

I in the process of ordering equipment for a 40g breeder. I used to have a 55g with an external overflow(U-tube) and a Mag 7 as a return pump. The Mag 7/overflow box was a good combination, worked with no problems. Now, a few years later, the Mag 7 isn't working. So, I need an equivalent pump to the Mag 7, since I know that it will work well with my overflow box. Any suggestions on which pump to buy? It needs to be able to run in my sump, which is a 20g long. Thanks for the suggestions.

Tim

Eheim 1260 would be my choice. Slightly smaller than the mag, but quiet and reliable!

I found that the Mag 7 was a bit too noisy for me. Also, I didn't live in Florida then so heat is now an issue, as it was not back then. Plus, if there is something better out there (smaller, quiter, less heat) for about the same money, I'm willing to give it a try. If there is nothing else, I doubt it, then I will go with another Mag 7.

I would agree with Hop. You cannot go wrong with an Eheim pump. It cost more, but you get what you pay for.

OceanRunner 2500. Less than half the cost of a Eheim, more enery efficient, just as cool, just as quiet and backed by Aqua Medic a longtime player in this industry.
