Odd red growth
Recently my tube worm died, in my tank. I did not think it was dead at first, becuase in the past it had gone through phases when it would not come out for a long time. Needles to say it was dead, and a wierd redish film started to grow around it. I removed the worm, but the redish film remains on top of the algae growth. This redish growth has started to spread onto another rock. Is this cyto bacteria, and if so how can I get rid of it. I was thinking about removing the rock and scrubing it. Would that work?

A list of tank specs would help.Like equipment and LR and tanks age and stock? Also this may help.

If the film is soft and breaks up very easily, it's likely a microbial bloom, which could be cyanobacteria or a mixture. Removing the rock is likely to cause more problems than it solves. I suspect the problem is the excess nutrients from the decay of the tube worm. I'd siphon out whatever part of the film is easy to reach and wait a while.
