Getting food from the grocery store

I have a question...I was walking through the grocery store the other day and was looking at all the different choices at the seafood counter and just wondering if it was safe to feed my fish/corals etc...? Obviously, nothing in my tank would like pre-cooked shrimp, but what about raw shrimp, prawns, scallops or fish? I used a raw shrimp to cycle my tank.

No, there is nothing wrong with it besides it can get the tank dirty fast. The fish and inverts will love it. You will need to make it into smaller pieces. I use a small food processor to make my food. I use fresh seafood, flakes, and algaes and mix them all together in the processor. You may also want to add some garlic to the mix.

I'd be careful not to use only cleaned fish and animals. Prey items in the wild will contain all parts of the animal. This thread might help:

Stick with raw seafood. I will throw shrimp, squid, scallops, seaweed into the food processor and then stick it in a ziplock bag and flatten it out. Your fish will love it!
