Cyano

I have some cyano bacteria that is getting really out of hand. I tried to syphon it on sat, but it's back in full force. I have something going in the tank that I can't explain. My Cyano is up, and I'm growing green clumps of hair algae like crazy. I have one k-4 powerhead going, but I'm going to install a smaller one on the oppisite side this weekend, so flow will be good. My skimmer has been pulling more out this week than it has been in months. Long story short is that I need suggestions. All levels are normal trates, trites, NH3 are 0 and ph is 8.2 8.3 ish. I feed once a day, but not alot. I have 2 tangs 2 clowns 2 firefish 1 blennie and the normal clean up critters. There are also assorted corals in the tank. I do not use RO/DI water yet, but I am looking into a unit.

Also, I plan to dose today with Chemiclean, so any suggestions on that are also welcome.

I've had the same problem a few weeks ago...i ran reef carbon and phosphate remover. every day I syphoned some out until it stoped from growing.

It was a long proscess and frustrating but it will go away!
maybe more experienced people can help you out more.

what size tank is this? what type filtration do you use?

ro is a must do to the chemicals in the water.

Start running something that will suck out phosphate, even if you are not detecting it through a test kit you will still have it in your tank. Its just that right now your algae is eating it faster than you can test it. Are you using ro/di water? Heres a list of things you can do for your cyano and hair algae.
