set up help
im setting up my 110G tall fuge/ frag tank and adding a 130G sump and i have a few set up questions hoping you guys could help me out. my stand is a few inches wider front to back then the tank, so im going to rest the tank on a piece of wood, and was just wondering what kind would be best to use? plywood, particle board or solid wood? i will also have to drill 2 holes through the board for my sump return lines. will a extra sheet of Styrofoam help under the tank help at all? was also wondering whats the best way to put baffles and refuge chambers in a sump? just get glass pieces cut to fit and silicone them in? thanks for any help. i will post some pictures once its finished.

I would use solid wood if it were me.
I would not use Styrofoam. Just make sure it's nice and level when your done. Shim the stand if you have to. If you have a glass fuge then you will want glass baffles cut to fit and you just silicone them in place with aquarium silicone. The aquarium silicone is 100% with no anti bacterial agents in it. If you have a Acrylic fuge then you will want to get Acrylic baffles cut to size and use special Acrylic epoxy. The thickness of the baffles should be roughly 1/4" I would recommend checking out melevsreef.com if your going this route. |
