How long to wait for PVC glue to dry?
yeah the title pretty much summs it up. I want to slam my new PVC return line underneath the tank today, I joined the last piece together last night around 11pm.
The rest of the fittings have been together for almost a month! lol <-------procrastinator Thanks, andy

Almost instantly
Although there are some that beleive you should let it dry for a while, I've used pipe just a few moments after glueing with no issues.

The joint will not have cured enough to withstand 100% of rated pipe pressure for 4 to 7 hours dependant upon ambient temp and size fitting.
In your case, you are good to go since it was glued last night.

I think it depends on how much glue you put on. The glue hardens almost instantly between the connections but the stuff that gets pushed out the ends stay moist because it's a bigger glob. I usually wait 15-20mins to be sure.

It dry pretty quick, but it takes afew hours to get all the fumes out of the pipe.

You can use it very quickly because there is almost no pressure in the pipe. I usually wait about 2 minutes.

imo opinion and I'm no plumber. I've used it three times and in fifteen it was dry. I used a ton for my new piping for return and it was fine no leaks after 15-20 mins.

Is there any chance of damaging livestock in a running tank when you use it this soon after?

I've used it right away too and I haven't had any problems with any of my livestock.
I've read that we should wait for 24 hours though. Just to let any chemicals either dry or dissipate. I don't remember where I read that though. And of course, I read it AFTER I had the plumbing all done and the water flowing. |

5 min or so. I have plumbed 30 or 40 tanks, never an issue. By the time I am done with all of the plumbing for a water test some has sat for an hour or two, but I'm cool with 5 minutes, have done it in less time as well with no issue.
