240gal Reef Skimmer
I was thinking about setting up a ATI Bubblemaster 250 for this tank. Also was going to use my old Euro-Reef RS-135 to inject ozone into the water. Will this be to much skimming for a 240gal mixed reef tank? Plan on having a 55gal fuge also. Tank will have a few tangs but more smaller fish.

save your self some money and look into the msx 250. i had a friend that had a bubble master 200 and was not too happy with the performance. it seemed that he could never get it dialed in to pull anything much darker than a tea color skim. he just recently went to the msx and really cant compare the two due to the fact that it is still new. the msx has a slightly larger skimmer body and it lacks the riser tube in the body that could be a contributing factor in the weak performance of the bubble master. but i am sure that there are many people that will jump on that and say the opposite. it is just my opinion. i dont think that the msx 250 will be too much for your tank, it would be just about right for a heavily stocked 240 gal tank.

I have not researched the msx 250 but is it one of those you have to do mods too, to get it running optimally? I am not a person that wants to do mods on the skimmer. I just want to buy it, let it break in, adjust it and clean it up every week.

they run just fine out of the box. both skimmers, the bm250 and msx 250, both run mesh wheeled pumps, which will need to be redone about once a year. i run the msx 200 just out of the box, and so far i have not needed to do a thing.

As someone who owns an MSX250, I would disagree that it runs fine "out of the box". The airlines must be replaced (minor thing), but the mesh job was terrible and needed to be redone right off the bat. This may be easy for some or most, but some people may not be comfortable with doing a task like this. Supposedly, the next batch of skimmers will address this. Those and a couple of other minor issues aside, these are very good skimmers for the price you pay.

I recommend and run the Reeflo 250 on a similiar sized setup.
