Sump Maintanance ??"s
I'm buying a used sump. For practical purposes, we will say it is the Amiracle PL-1000P Pro-Line 1000 with pump. I'll be using a CAP 1800 with a 1800 l/hr pump for a return. I plan to use it on my 29 gallon with an overflow. The sump is not exactly the PL-1000P Pro-line Amiracle, but looking at the pictures, it appears to be exactly the same sump, exept 2" shorter, it even has an Amiracle logo on it. Dimensionally, as I said the outside of the sump will be exactly as the PL-1000, but 2 inches shorter. What kind of maintanance is required for this unit. What kinds of things should I be looking for when purchasing a used sump? Aside from the obvious, (no leaks, cracks, in the sump and test the funtionality of the pump) what else am I looking for? I don't know much about sumps/protien skimmers. The seller will help explain to me how to set it up on my tank, so I'm not too worried about that.
FYI, my live rock is not cutting it, I still have levels of nitrates in my tank that I can't get rid of with my water changes (5-10 gallons every 7 - 10 days) over the past 4 weeks. Any info on this product/manufacturer/maintainance is much appreciated. Thanks |
