Phosphate removal - running phosar hc in slow flow hob filter??

I have a few smaller tanks and want to run some phosphate remover (I have phosar-hc). I don't want to buy/setup a reactor. I have a nano-sized hob filter (16gph) that I could run with the media in a filter bag. This slow flow should increase the contact time with the media.

Is this approach good or worth while?

Thanks!
