i use a generic pickeling lime. it is much cheaper and just as good. but kent is fine. kalk is kalk.

i mix my kalk and add it right away, but dont use auto topoff. but it shouldnt be left a long time or it will lose effectiveness.

A lot of people use Mrs Wages pickling lime. I found it at Walmart this weekend. Look for the section that has canning supplies. Usually near the pots and pans. I think it was around $3 for a $16 oz can.

Good read: http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2005-01/rhf/index.php
