Some advice on my tank
Hey guys,
I live In st Thomas U.S. Virgin Islands I have a 75 gal set up , now with t5's thanxs to grim. I have been battling with what parameters to run the tank at, I eventually would like to have a mix of lps and sps wit some softies. this is what i have. This is a poic of the tank now. apr 2008 http://i276.photobucket.com/albums/k...tant1apr08.jpg[/IMG][/IMG] 6 lamp t5 retro 48" small sump shown with small skimmer Chiller (It's hot down here) Uv. Thats all the hardware [IMG] ![]() These ar the paramiters I am running Temp: 78-80 ph: 8.3 Alk: 3.5-4 Phos: .01 Nitrate: .1 Cal: 350-400 Sal: 34/1.024 I have some problems with algea, and I can't seem to get coraline to grow consistantly. I plan to build a new sump, with a fuge and install a asm g2 as the new skimmer. Your feed back, and tips would be greatly appreciated as i want my tank to look geat.

looks good to me, i think your calcium needs to be over 400 for the corraline to grow, but it takes a while all other parameters are ok, you could bump up the sg to 1.025-26, be careful about evaporation mind if its hot, also overall it looks clean, it would help the guys if you actually listed your flow rates and amount of rock and sand etc, i know the pictures are good but its still better to add more info, i like your tank though geoffrey

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the reply. This is a pic from 2 days ago. 1 1/2 weeks after I stripped everythink form the tank. I neglected it for about 5 months, no water changes, just top off and food for the fish. I took out all the live rock, about 40-50 lbsof it, scrubbed all the algea and removed all the live sand which was full iof ditrus. What you seem is all the rock which is form the local reef fringe of my favorite beach. about 1" of sand that remained after a screen wash and the fich and coral. I am waiting for my salt shipment to arrive ( instant ocean) so that I can do a water change. after the clean up i reset the present parameters with a little salt I had and some alk buffer . I use sea chem additives and there test kits. I use Reef complete, reef carbonate, reef iodide, and reef plus at man. instructions. I feed the corals marine snow and some frozen prime reef. I test for sal, alk, ph, phos, and nitrates. Circulation wise my return pump is a little giant 4mdqx sc rated at 1225 gph. just recieved two korilla 1 circ pumps and will be adding them this weekend. what other parameters would you guys suggest i should change for greater success. thanks i advance for the feed back Geoff
