Water Changes
Can you do a 5g water change on a 20g tank every day or every other day or would that completely unbalance the tank.
This would be for a reef setup. |

Why so much change? Is your chemistry that far off? I do 10% a week on my 75 gallon, roughly 8 gallons a week. On a 20 from all that I've read weekly changes should be about 2 gallons, unless some parameter is really off.

I don't have any problems with my tank, right now, just figured it would keep contaminants or nitrates from ever being a problem.

water changes are only good when the water you put in the tank is of better quality than the water you take out, after changing the water on a normal change you replenish the calcium, magnesium, and all other essential minerals, doing it daily with that amount is pointless as the water you take out every day is basically the same quality as whats going in, also im not sure how the inhabitants feel about being messed about daily continually, id stick to weekly or even fortnightly if it suites you, id forget about daily,
