juiceking,
I used one of those while I lived in an apartment. I used it to filter water for two FW tanks but the water quality was so bad I ran through filters very quickly. When I started my SW tank, I went out and spent the 200 on a RO/DI unit and haven't changed the filters since I got it in the beginning of the year. Not only does the RO/DI unit work faster, it also produces drinking water. RocketEngineer.

you can hook it up to any faucet and take it off when you don't need it. just keep water in there so the membrane don't dry out.

I got mine from Melev Melev's Reef RODI and mounted it and the DI canister onto a 2X4 before mounting it to the wall. It connects to the faucet of the laundry room sink and I use the long drain line he provided to either go into the washing machine or down the drain for the sink. Nothing is permanent and when I eventually move out all that will be left is a couple screw holes in the wall.
If you can't do a permanent connection, mounting it to a board and then using the faucet connection should work out just fine.

Don't know what part of the Country you are in as you do not show it in your info but here in Arizona there are water & ice type stores on just about every corner. If I need to purchase water I much prefer to get it from a staffed store rather than a vending machine. I am not aware of any state or city which requires water vending machines to be tested for anything other than "weights and measures" or accurate gallonage measurement. You never know the quality of water the machine will dispense and there is no one to ask about it. With a manned store you have a live person and they almost always have a conductivity or TDS meter and are happy to show you how well their system works. Here in Phoenix our TDS runs over 800 and the store closest to me gets that down to 15 or less consistently with RO only. Thats a pretty decent system considering the volume of water they produce.
