Question ASM G2, can I change to a sedra 5000?

I have a g2 skimmer with a mesh mod sedra 3500. Since Im not in love with the performance of the mesh mod I was thinking I could bump up to the 5000 and leave it stock. I know the G3 comes with this pump and its three inches taller but I figured id ask. Is it still my best choice?

The 3500 and 5000 both have the same output diameter, so I don't think there is a problem with fitting it into the skimmer. However, I'm not sure if the height of the output is the same as the 3500. As far as better production, I doubt it would be worth it for the money. You could do the recirc mod for a fraction of the cost of the 5000 and also include the gatevalve mod.
