Pic of 100 lbs of Live Rock
Just ordered 90 lbs of LR for my 95 gallon tank and wondered if anyone has a pic of a similar amount in a 90 gallon tank.
Curious if it's enough or not |

it really depends on the type of rock it is. Some kinds are much heavier and denser than others- 90 lbs of one kind may fill half the volume of 90 lbs of another.

Vadar - you'll learn quick that you have to answer at least 4 questions before you get an answer.
I just put 150 ibs of Figi in my 4' tank (120g). It took up the entire back wall and protruded nearly half way to the front. I would wait and see how you like the 90ibs first. You could add a few larger pieces later. Check back this week and I'll add pictures. Last edited by SirToppemHat; 05/13/2008 at 11:59 AM. |

I found the Reef Aquarium Society of Charlotte through Reef Central. Check it out sometime http://www.rasoc.org/index.htm
Looks like you got some nice sizes of rocks. Most of mine were smaller pieces. I was pleased with the base rock I found on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/50-POUNDS-OF-LIV...QQcmdZViewItem If you're going get more rock, you may want to try it and use it on the bottom. |

here is a picture of my 90g with 90lbs of rock when i first set it up.
I have Kaelini, Tonga Branch, Uaniva, and Marshall Island. The branchy look in the middle of the tank is the Tonga branch. Which is a very dense rock. heavy piece of rock, and takes up alot of room. |

Just using Ro water with no salt will kill all of the live bacteria, or anything living on it. You want to cure liverock and wait for it to cycle which is an ammonia spike. You can buy Base Rock or Marco Rocks an cure it without the salt because its already considered dead base rock.

This is 100 lbs in my 90 g (a few weeks ago). Plenty of rock to me.
edit: the pictures look bare but seriously, tons of rock. I don't know what I'd do with more.
