phosban reactor with carbon

i just installed a phosban reactor (two little fishes). I have put carbon into it but half of my carbon is floating to the top. Will it eventually settle? I have the rest at the bottom where the surface is just a bit agitated but not tumbling.

just fill up the reactor with carbon from filter to filter

How much flow is going through the carbon reactor?
You don't want a situation where the carbon is being pulverized by the flow so that is small enought to pass out of the reactor
If you fill up the reactor then you can crank more flow through it with no room for the carbon to pulverize

I run my carbon reactor in reverse (top to bottom) so it doesn't grind and get kicked up. All you have to do is switch the input and output plumbing. Works great for me that way.

shake it a little, see if there are air bubbles attached to the carbon , mine settled after a couple days , I only filled mine half way and find I get much better results then when I filled it all the way up , just find what works best for you and the size carbon granulate you are using .
