Need suggestion for a small skimmer...

Hi all,
I am looking for suggestions for a small affordable skimmer (that works ) to be used on a 20 gal frag tank. I think I may add a 10 gal sump to it so around 25 gal total water volume after I throw in a couple of pieces of live rock etc.

Thanks in advance,

Henry

eddnyster,
HOT or in sump just as long as it works .

Bebo77 I am trying to avoid the water change route as I plan on feeding the the tank . Daily water changes are a pain but I may end up that way if I can not get a reliable skimmer.

Thanks

A prizim mesh moded is a decent skimmer for a tank that small. They're not very good unless they're modded though. CSS 65 would work well for you to, and you can usually find one used for about 50.00 to 60.00 shipped to you.

Yes but the pump on the 110 (smallest in sump model) gets way too hot for a 25 gal. I had one on my 29 gal with 10 gal sump and it raised the temp soo much that I was forced to sell it.

Looks like i will be pretty limited in my choices . With Nanos being so trendy I would think they would have a smaller skimmer for the smaller systems.

I would disagree...my OTP1000 (the pump on the 110) is running at 29w RMS, and at 50w VA...that means itss putting out the same heat as a 50w heater. MOST pumps on lowpriced skimmers will put out that much heat or more.

Get a sump and get a NW110 and you'll be more than happy!

Check out the Odyssea PS75 for $35.00 plus shipping:

http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp...ROD&ProdID=245

or the PS160 for $60.00 plus

http://www.aquatraders.com/index.asp...ROD&ProdID=319

Here's a link to a lot of info on both skimmers on this forum:

http://reefcentral.com/forums/showth...5&pagenumber=1

If you have the time to read the entire thread (66 pages) like I did, you'll find pics of a stock PS75 pulling some nice nog from a 20 gallon tank. (Chevegan's tank.)

I have had good experiences with a CPR BakPak fed with a Rio600. The new powerhead from JBJ is supposed to work excellent with this skimmer too.

I don't see them fs very often.

This is from my own personal experiences with one. I am quite sure there are better skimmers on the market, and worse ones also. I just liked this one.
