RO/DI unit?

I'm looking to purchase an RO/DI unit and have been looking into the Kent Maxxima units. Before I purchase, I'd like to get some responses about this unit. Are there other good values out there? Is this a good unit or can I get better for the same money? All suggestions and replies are appreciated.

Thanks.

I got a typhoon from AWI, it is awesome. I dont think you can go wrong with the one from AWI, filterguys, buckeye field supply, or the one Melev has

Wow that Typhoon III looks impressive. I was leaning towards Buckeye Field Supply. I need to take a closer look at both.

Premium Series from www.buckeyefieldsupply.com
www.spectrapure.com (We run the MAXCAP 90 but will upgrade to the MAXCAP 100 UHE in the future)

~$160 for the Premium Series Unit at Buckeye Field Supply is your best bet if you are going on price vs. performance.

Best system out there = SpectraPure

The information above is regurgitated from many posts from A.J. "AZDesertRat" when researching our purchase.

+1 www.Filterguz.biz

First, they are sponsors here and help keep this site free.

Second, they bend over backwards to help out their customers. You may or may not have questions when you hook your filter up. If you do, they are right here in the sponsors sections (or you can call them) to answer them for you.

Ditto for SpectraPure.

They have been very helpful with our system.

I CANNOT agree more with you. I will NEVER look else where for RO/DI units/products.

I was looking at that webpage the other day.

One question I have re: those filters is I'm confused between teh RO/DI and simpole RO units. My understanding is that RO/DI just has another filter on it. Is it that simple - or is there something I'm missing here?

Thanks

Here... read this: http://reefcentral.com/modules.php?s...showpage&pid=2

but the moral of the story is you need DI for aquarium use. If you want to drink the water you do not want the DI stage.

Ro alone will get your water around 5-12 TDS depending, With DI it will be 0 or close to thats what we want in Aquarium 0, for drinking water we want it around 30-50 for best tasting we need minerals, fish get there minerals in the salt water mix. for freshwater you will need to add some sort of minerals back into water, I hope im making sense here.

0.0 TDS Is what you want for our tanks.... Please STOP talking about fresh water OR Drinking Water..... If you have a RO/DI unit.... make sure The TDS is 0.0 before you use it. In a saltwater tank

I went with melev's reef, for a very nice affordable RO/DI unit. I use it for both drinking water (connected to a bladder tank) and reef water.

Buckeye Field Supply

I just got a premium unit from Buckeye Field Supply. I would definitely recommend BFS! They shipped me a unit on Monday, Memorial Day. I ordered it on Sunday after Russ walked me through my ideal setup and it is functioning beautifully in my basement yesterday and today. Amazing service, quick shipment, great unit!

Buckeye Field Supply +1
