Question Sump Question...

hey guys
I hope this isent a dumb question but should we clean out our sump there is dust and rubble all ot the bottom... I just didint know if you were supposed to keep it like that because maybe that hold nutients or is it bad for it to be like that???

Every 3 or 4 months instead of a regular old water change, I will turn off the return pump and hit the sump and return area with a wet-vac to clean it up a little. Then I replace the lost water with freshly mixed salt water. It works well for me.

Yes, vacuum it out every few weeks or so. My sump is partitioned into skimmer and return sections and refugium, and I vacuum the skimmer and return sections once every month or so. It is the refugium that you don't want to vacuum.
