Live Rock Question...

So I bought some live rock from this guy that was already in his tank but on the way home I did not have anything to put it in so it was dried out by the time I got back home.

My question is, do I need to do anything to it or can I put it directly into my tank? I put the LR in a bucket of water with an airstone in it until I get a proper reply.

till the water is normal. a few weeks. it will cycle your tank again. also depends how much LR you bought. if you bought like 5lbs and your goona add it to a 125gal tank with 100+lb or rock i dont think it will do much.

Well, I bought about say, a few pounds. I'm not exactly sure but one piece was a 13" slab and a smaller chunk. I already have at least 100 lbs in the tank. I hope what I did does not mess up my tank. I just looked and nothing looks out of the ordinary yet.

What I did was put the rock in a tank with an airstone for a few hours and then put the pieces in my tank. I hope I didn't mess anything up.

You should see a mini cycle, just check your parameters and do water changes as needed and you should be good. If you have no inhabitants in your tank I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Yeah, I just put most of my fish in there a few days ago. So far, things look ok.

Just watch for the ammonia spike from any of the die-off and be ready for some water changes. You should only see a mini cycle but better safe than sorry.
