well, it has a tendency to spread. i'd put it on a solo rock somewhere in the sand. decide how much you like it, realizing it may spread like wildfire, then move it.

I heard they like to be in the middle of the tank or up high near the current? Is the sand better???

I think they will flourish just about anywhere. I've even heard a member state that storm drains that empty in the ocean are filled with them.
A good idea was suggested above... similiar to Green Star Polyps. Isolate them on an "Island" so they can only spread so much until you decide if you like them.

They are very adaptive but mine seems to love medium light and medium flow the best.

Low flow to med-low flow is the best IME. With more gentle current they will stand more upright and pulsate. In higher current they will pulsate but be blown to one side.. which doesn't really show off how cute they look.
And I would def agree with isolating them on a single rock somewhere. If not, they will overtake your rockwork. |

Yes, they will take over. My advice is not to put it in the tank because they are invasive and difficult to remove. If you do, try and isolate it on a single rock.

You could also put it near the glass so when it spreads you can just use a razor blade and scrape it off when it get to be to much. Then you have frags you can bring to the LFS for credit.

This is what I did to limit it's path--I took some rubber bands and attached the frag to the end of a piece of Tonga Branch that I have in my tank. In short order, it has spread to the entire piece of Tonga--which now looks like a pulsing bouquet of flowers--it is really cool looking. So far, it has not spread down the Tonga.

If it wants to spread it will. The pulsing hands will fall off and stick somewhere else and start from there.I will not put anymore in any of my tanks.
