leather coral with lps
Is there a way to safely house a leather with LPS? I read on asiria that:
"some species are highly toxic to stony corals (especially larger polyp stony corals in the genera Lobophyllia, Symphyllia and Trachyphyllia)" however it doesn't say whether it's their presence in general, or a sting or something else that's the problem. I am only 2 months in and am starting to stock corals. I'm planning primarily zoanthids & mushrooms, but would like a few (3-4) LPSs. Am I ok to add a leather if it's kept away from the LPS?

yes, they are fine. I house a yellow fiji and frogspawn. The article may be referring to LPS which can pack a fairly potent sting. Various LPS can have long sweeper tentacles ( bubble coral ) that come out at feeding time and may harass some softies such as leathers.

I've got a few softies including a large Finger Leather in the tank with quite a bit of LPS and They seem to get along ok. I haven't had any problems yet. I haven't tried to keep any SPS at this point but I'm thinking about giving it a shot soon.

Well that's good news... guess it won't come down to "rock-paper-scissors" with the hubby yet then.
Thanks!
