ask your mum to list absolutly everything she did with and around the tank in detail. it is entirely possible though that your mum's care had nothing to do with the loss of your fish, its just a place to start

Did you ever find the fish? Sometimes they jump out.

1st fish
Wow
as your 1st fish a sailfin tang seems quite delicate especially with water parameters.......it is possibly that your fish was enroute to perish no matter if you would have been there. I lost a sailfin tang before and I believe it was due to Water temp.....I was also away for few days when this happened. |

The only things that my mom did was turn on and off the lights since I do not have a timer yet, and she put some mysis shrimp that I had in the tank to feed him. He had been acting wierd days prior to me leaving Im not blaming anything on her. He started hiding instead of his normal behavior of swimming everywhere
My water param's are normal. The only thing that it could be was my water temp changed or my cat got to it. And I have not found the body of the fish eithere its not in my tank |

depending on what you have for a CUC you may never find the body.
sorry for your loss. |

The only CUC I have right now are 3 hermit crabs and 3 pepermint shrimp
My water param's are Nitrate:10(I have a Wet/Dry with Bio Balls) Nitrite:0 Amonia:0 pH:8.2 Alk:High Calcium:450 For when I get a new fish I was thinking about a pair of black and white Ocellaris clownfish...Would this be ok? |

I agree that a sailfin tang is a delicate fish to get as your first. I would wait awhile then try something a little more hardy. Besides tangs should usually be added last to a tank.
The clowns would be a good fish to start out with, just give it some time before adding them.
