over flow, sump, plumbing help needed
Can someone please tell me how to plumb my overflow to the sump? I am hoping to set my tank up this weekend and I still don't get the plumbing. Where do the pumps go? One for out put and one back in? Tank is reef ready. Thanks.

You want to pump from low to high. you never want to have 2 pumps one in one out of the sump. you want to overflow feed the sump and pump back up for the return. There is no way to have the pumps pumping the exact same amount of water. closed loop systems are different but they are also not pumping in and out just around. maybe that helps.....

your overflow to your sump is going to be fed from your return pump in your sump... so depending on how much GPH you decide to go with on your return pump... that will in turn determine how much water is going back into your sump... you only want one pump in your sump and that is to return the water to your display tank... in my gallery you can see the a picture of my sump and the hose on the right coming to the sump is from my overflow and the hose to the left is the return pump...

So how does the hose on the right drain? gravity? How high up on the over flow should my tank water go?

well on my over flow which is a CPR cs90 overflow i use a little aqua lifter water pump to hold syphon so the water will go into the over flow tank side and be sucked through the syphon "u" tube and into the other section on the back of the tank where the water goes through a hose (which is the one on the right), and thats where it goes directly to my skimmer pump, then goes through the rest of the sump into the fuge (the green part) where that acts as a living filter then into the last section which is where the return pump is and pumps the cleaner water back into the tank..
and as for where you put it it depends on where you want your water level, i jus threw mine on got the syphon started and after it was running right i messed with the water level..
