Lighting suggestions pls?
When I originally purchased my tank and equipment...even with research and a knowledgable LFS...I STILL made some mistakes.
Primarily...my current lighting...I am a little concerned about. Currently I am running a 'GLO' 36" dual T5 fixture (1-10k and 1-Acentic) on my 60. I had initially thought at the time of purchase I was going to do a FOWLR...in that setup this light would be perfectly acceptable. I want to do corals...so the plan is changing. The tank is a 60g...36"X24"X18". I want to be capable of housing up to some of the less demanding SPS corals. I don't want to make the same mistake again...and not get enough light. Questions: 1) How many watts per gallon should I be looking at stepping up to? I assume that a watts to gallon measure is a fairly standard way of measuring intensity...though I understand...there are a LOT of variables. 2) Are there any specific makers I should look at...or exclude? I would like to get a fixture that I can use legs on the tank...but could hang if needed. My budget for lighting is flexible...but would like to spend under $800 and I am not opposed to spending far less. Thanks in advance! |
