Return Pump How to Choose

Setting up a 90 gal with sump/refuge. Looking to use the CPR CS102 overflow box. It rated at 1200 gph. What do I need to be looking at for a return pump.

Thanks You People here Are great.

3-5 x the display. in your case 3-5 x 90 = gph. i would say an ocean runner 2500 good for 650 gph.

Check the head loss calculator on the home page, bottom left. What type of pump are you thinking external or internal?

From another site it was suggested the Eheim 1262 which is 900gph would this be to much. Could I use a ball valve to control the return flow. Anyone using this pump.

I think you would be fine with that pump, Ehiem are pretty hard to beat Internal or External.

I'm using the 1262 on my 180g. I guess you can use this pump if you'd like. the turnover is a little bit much for a 90g imo. but you can always T it and use it towards other things such as reactors etc... I think that if you want external, I"d go with something else rather than an eheim, just my preference. I like the eheim to be internal. small external pump, I'd go with iwaki. if you want bigger external pumps, I'd go with reeflo sequence.
