About to buy first anemone, need suggestions?
My new tank is doing very well, it is a mixed reef with sps and soft coral. It is a shallow cube with a ushio 400w bulb with t5 supplement lighting. My fish are a tennant tang, scopas tang, yellow wrasse, foxface, and a percula clown. I want to try an anemone, which should i get? I like the purple tip carpets but ive heard the bubble tip are easier to care for. I would any suggestions and tips on how to care for them. Thank you.

I'm in the same boat as you.
I recently bought a green BTA but was very hesitant because I didn't want to mess with my corals and setup. I moved any corals I could to the other side of my tank then placed it right at the base of my rock and sand on the other side. it moved about 6 inches and settled. One of my clowns hosted the first night. I decided to do it now since my tank is only about half stocked and now I can build around it.

Cover the powerheads! Cover the intakes!
Sums up what I know. The solution.

+1 to that, I'm also lucky my koralia is covered in an inch of macro-algae on all sides.

Yeah my girlfriend called me at work because my powerhead intake sucked up my BTA. I didn't believe her 'till I got home and yeah it traveled completely across the tank in one day to the intake. Sigh...
I could not believe how bad it was 'till I actually saw it. Protect every intake if you got one. And use lots of light. And you would probably be best getting the Anemone and Clownfish first. The Anemone will roam 'till it finds a spot it likes. And may stay there forever sometimes. It may like a spot behind the rocks... Then you will never see it or your Clownfish They are beautiful and fickle creatures. Last edited by stagefright13; 06/27/2008 at 08:47 PM. |

I mean my first one was a bubble tip and i love the guy he is awesome. I mean keep the power heads covered and just make sure you have good enough light for him.
