what color is the "slime algae?"

the slime algae could not be slime aglae but cyano--a bacteria.

Similar to algae it needs phosphates nitrates and low flow to grow
Here is a thread of tips that you can check your system with. it is designed for alagae but many of the tips apply to cyano

Yes, nothing eats it. Reduce phosphates, nitrates, and increase flow and it will automagically disappear.

i was told a queen conch eats it i picked up one and have seen a reduction in my tank, could just be a concidence tho
