Clown hosting
I picked up a scolymia today and it seems my clown wants to host in it. Is this going to hurt the coral ? I've had two anemones and a plate coral in my last tank and lost them, I suspect the clown is causing the the deaths. The clown would bother the nems to the point they couldn't close up without be disturbed. The plate may have just been bad luck.
Anyway, will he hurt his new addition ? If possible, I may have to put the clown in another tank. |

Clowns will associate with corals especially wavy ones. Yes, the coral can be damaged but it is not necessarily the case. They can also damage anemones if the anemone is not well established. This is one of the downsides to clown fish.

The coral has already gotten nearly twice as large as from when I got it from the store, so I'm guessing it's happy. I guess the next couple days will tell. The clown isn't rooting on it, just seems like he wants to lay in the middle. |

Well if its growing and is not trying to close when the clown get on it it will be fine. If you notice it starting to stop feeding and or closing when the clown gets close then i would starting thinking aobut putting it into a different tank.
