mushroom corals?

I purchased a small mushroom from LFS and had a few ?'s
I was told by LFS that if I wanted it attachet to a certain place in tank I would have to glue it or just drop it in and it would find its own place to attach. Well I am not sure what kind of glue to use so I just droped it in tank after acllimating. I saw it lying beside a rock for about 2 hours now I cant find it anywhere in the tank. If it dies will it just disolve or should I atleast beable to see it dead? could it just be hiding somwhere? I also forgot to mention I also picked up a small rock with a bunch of polups attached and they are doing just fine.

I doubt it died... mushrooms can live in ridiculous conditions. It will more than likely just blow around and attach wherever it settles. To this day I still find mushrooms in the most random places throughout my tank.

Yup,like Tswifty8 said.
But if you want to attach them to a specific place in the tank here's what I do.You'll need some LR rubble. There's really 2 ways to do it.One way is to use a tooth pick and some loose elastic bands. The other way is just to simply super glue it onto the LR.
Mushrooms slime like crazy so sometimes gluing them can be very difficult.
The tooth pick method is simply sticking it through the muchroom then using loose elastic bands to hold it to the rock.Later you can use epoxy to attach the LR rubble to your rock formation.

Thanks for the info. You can actually stick the tooth pick right thru the mushroom? After spending over an hour sitting infront of the tank looking around I finaly found the mushroom hiding in the back of the tank just between a pice of LR and the sand. It is looking very healthy, I am happy to say. Will mushroom spread on there own or is there a way to split them? Or should I just leave it alone and let it be happy?the mushroom and the rock with atleast a dozen or more polups I got only cost me $5 so I fell I got a realy nice deal

Here's an easy way to do it. Get some superglue. Take the shroom out of the water, and dab the base with a good amount of superglue and stick it on the rock rubble. While holding the shroom in place, dip it in some saltwater (have a tub of it sitting in front of you). When the superglue hits the water, it will harden immediately. Hold it in the water for a minute or so. You are now ready to put it in your tank.

When a shroom isn't attached to anything, it will drift around the tank. I have several that have split off my main colony that are drifting around my tank. Sometimes they die if they don't find a spot at which they can stay/attach. When they do, you likely won't see them--they just shrivel up and die.

Yup,that's how I've been doing it....super glue.
Even glued a ricordia this last time with no adverse effects.

The Loctite Gel seems to work the best.
Good luck.....

1 more quick question, after glueing should I place the shroom towards top of tank (closer to light) or towards the bottom?

I would put it down near the bottom.
If it's open and looks ok where it is now,and it's in a dark area then I wouldn't move it higher.Mushroom corals are pretty low on the scale for requiring light.

Oh,
And don't go crazy moving it around. It's might no look too good for a little while after you glue it.Just a nice low flow area near the bottom will work.

I agree with stingythingy. Mushrooms don't seem to like to be superglued at first (wonder why, haa) and will look shriveled. Should start to perk up after a couple days.
