need help attaching sump baffolds
I was originally going to use 1/4" plexiglass, but Lowes didn't have pieces big enough. So I went with acrylic. Only bad part is, I don't have anything that bonds acrylic to acrylic. Aside from driving 45 min to the LFS (who should have something), what can I use. Is modeling glue fish safe once it cures? And for that matter, would it work? If you guys can give me some suggestions, my work will continue this weekend, and I will hopefully get the new sump up and running. I'm switching from a 26 gallon with a NW Super Skimmer 65 and a tuperware fuge to a 75 gallon with an Octo 150 and the fuge (much bigger) built in.
Thanks

I know people that still use silicone with acrylic baffles. There's just a chance over time it could fail. However, I had a heck of a time ripping out the acrylic baffle that was siliconed in the old tank I bought to use as a sump when I was re-configuring it.

They make a special cement for what your trying to do. Check out the DIY section at http://www.melevsreef.com/
You will likely need to hit up an acrylic or plastic supply store to get what you need. |
