Well the ammonia levels were going down slowly last night. This morning we are at about .5-1.0. So the water changes and Prime is definately helping.

The rest of our fish are still alive. The spike wiped out our abundant supply of copepods and trigger pods, so if the mandarin lives through this, it might be very hungry for the next couple of days. We lost two corals for sure. The others are still looking bad, but are recoverable.

I contacted the apartments and they said the Exterminator definitely did not come any sooner and he will definitely not come tomorrow.

So by process of elimination we suspect the roomate. Since we do not have any hard evidence (besides what we have listed before) we are not accusing him. We are simply telling him he has till the end of this week to get out.

Thank you for your concerns. I will post more updates as soon as they become available.

Good, glad things are looking up. You've been successful in dropping the ammonia a considerable amount since the first post. Hope it continues to go well.

glad the tank is on the rebound!

I don't see how the process of elimination would work suspecting a roommate, at least from these posts. Seems too strange, unless this is someone you have never trusted in the first place.

I guess thats another whole topic.

That's a real bummer, especially if a roommate did it. Your doing very good to control yourself. No one, and I mean no one puts a hand in my tank. Not even my father and he buys livestock for it it. Everyone knows it is my baby and while I'm a nice guy, I would get ugly if someone purposely did something to my tank.

How are the water parameters? Are you still doing water changes? Do you have an old HOB filter you could put a filter cartridge (or fine mesh bag) of (rinsed) carbon in? I figure it couldn't hurt and might help, since you really don't know what's in the tank. Actually if you have coral dying and/or sliming off, this idea sounds even better... Good luck and please keep us posted.

The ammonia levels (as of this morning) are still between .5 and 1.0. We are still doing water changes so hopefully it goes down some more overnight. We put a carbon bag in the very first day of things going nuts.

Thanks for the well wishes.

We will keep you updated.

I hope everything is getting better. You still have no idea what the source was? I might consider finding a temporary home for the mandarin until you get your pod population back up. Unless it eats a lot of frozen, it's health might slowly deteriorate over the next few weeks.

Sorry this happened, this is obviously sabotage by the roommate. Even if you fix the problem with the tank what's to stop him from doing it again. What is he doing with a bottle of ammonia any way. Smoking gun.

Sorry to here about the loss.....But some time this his how it works.

Even if you told the landlord...He may of said....spray anyway. I cant take the chance of bugs from your apt getting into the other apts.....

Also....alot of times the landlord just give the sprayer the pass key. He may of told the sprayer.....but he just went into every apt & forgot.

I am a landlord & I know this can happen.

My sugestion to you is....Next time that they are comming to spray. Put a sign on you door that says....PLEASE DO NOT SPRAY THIS UNIT.....ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE CALL ME AT ---/---/---- OR CALL THE LANDLORD.

PS to my above post.

YA....what is the roomate doing with a jug of ammonia???

This mite sound bad....BUT, if you lick your finger & touch the base boards around the kitchen...Then touch your tongue, You will know if they realy did spray or not. YA..YA... go rince your tongue with water. If you just touch your tongue, it wont hurt you....Just dont drag your tongue around on all the base boards in the entire unit

NOW you will know if its the room mate

Sounds like its 1 of 2 people.....The room mate or the bug sprayer

Before you punish the room mate......Make sure it wasn't the bug guy.

Then...question the room mate...see if he cracks....tell him...Hey, just confess....its all cool.

If he cracks...................Drop acid in his next beer & see how he likes it..........LOL....

Just kidding

well 1 thing is for sure something nasty has got in there during the time you was at work, going to be hard to prove, gotta start again with the basics and keep it on track and just hope whoever was responsible for the demise understands from your sadness at present that it was a foolish thing to do
