Gen X 70 pump question
I just started my 120g tank up and I have a GenX 70 pump that makes a lot of noise. Does anybody have any idea how to make them quiter. I don't have it fastened to anything, It is just resting on a towel folded a couple of times to muffel the hum.

Is it hard plumbed to the tank? Do you use any flexible tubing to connect it? Sometimes the noise isn't because of the pump, it's because the vibration is travelling through the plumbing and into the sump or the tank because of rigid pipe.
GenX pumps are fan cooled, though, and any pump with a fan is going to have some noise to it.

The pump is flex tubing to the wet/dry, but the wet/dry is hard plumbed

If you're certain that the noise is coming from the pump, and not cabinet vibration, you could try putting some hard foam board insulation inside your cabinet.
