My lunar wrasse
I have a lunar wrasse in my 210 gallon reef tank.
He is the 5th addition to my tank and i didn't have the idea of stopping at him. As i have read here on RC people seem to have trouble with this fish. Can i add more fish to the tank now that he is added? Also he is about 4 1/2 inches not very big but he is a great swimmer and i wanted to add another "BANANA WRASSE" to the mix my future plan additions are (1) Unicorn tang (2) Orange shoulder tang (3) Harlequin Tusk (4) Surge Wrasse (banana) My current stock list is 1 foxface 2 percula clown 1 kole tang 1 lunar wrasse

I would only be concerned about the Banana Wrasse. I think the others could (?) hold their own against the Lunar.

Cool fish, but mine killed all my snails. He had to go so bad that I spent 7 hrs last saturday emptying out my 90 in order to catch him. Now that he's gone, I have snails that can now do their thing and the other fish are able to get more food since the wrasse used to buzz around like a torpedo eating most of the food. Between the rockwork, flow and corals...I passed on traps and other gizmos to try and catch him.

thats what i am afraid of... i don't want to empty out 210 gallons of water i have an idea about putting egg crate in the middle of the tank if i have to remove all the rock and move forward doing so... there is also a rock he goes into from time to time if i can catch him in there ill just have to be quick on removing the rock as its on top of my LR!

I used to have a FOWLR with one and he wiped out my cleanup crew. I even tried a large hermit crab the size of a baseball and woke up one morning to legs and claws spread across the sand. I tried to add a harlequin tusk to the tank after he was established and he almost killed it within minutes. I was fortunate enough to get the tusk out and return to the lfs. Great looking fish and entertaining to watch but IMO highly aggressive and need to be the last fish added.

I never had a problem with mine hassling other fish...he and my maroon clown female used to spit sand at each other, but that's about it. He did make quick work of any shrimp I had however.
That has to be about the easiest fish to trap I've ever had. That's more or less true with any super aggressive feeder I guess. Just bait the trap put it in, and be ready to pull the door string. jds |

I made a acrylic trap and it worked well, bait and trap. Anthony Calfo talked about using a plastic bag as the trap and a noose around the rolled over edge of the bag, you sink the bag and bait and wait.

You really should be careful with all those wrasses. Wrasses are known to fight when together - so I've heard. They also love snails and crabs (pretty much any invertebrate) as they get bigger. I have a 29 gal, with a 6 in wrasse and the only invert. he won't touch is my CBS. Yeah, wrasses are beautiful, but you should keep asking around about how big they get and their diet before you regret it.

Oh and I'm pretty sure you'd be able to catch the wrasse in an instant, even using a sabiki (little fishing hook),lol, that's how I caught my wrasse in the ocean.

I CAUGHT Him in about a total of an hour. I went and put egg crate in the middle of the tank that way he only had one side to work with then i got him cornered and it was over after that! I have a shipment of 9 fish coming in today so i'm glad it wasn't too much of an issue!
