Question Flea Problem

cause we rescued kittens (with fleas) my house is just about infiltrated, we have 2 dogs and I was wondering what anyone with a similar problem has done. I am currently using borax to try and eliminate the problem but am very concerned about spraying anything due to my tank!
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Vicki

if you spray anything make sure you seal off your whole set up and turn off any skimmers and air pumps i dont even let my wife spray anything into the air in the house. we once had a flea problem use the powder flea killer after you vaccum your floors and treat your animals too repeat weekly for a month or 2 and poof no more fleas. thats what worked for me anyway

Give your dogs (and cats) flea medicine i.e., advantage, frontline... The animals will be flea free very soon, and everything they come into contact with will be free of fleas as well.

i just went through this myself. I tried borax and diatomaceous earth, but ended up bombing the house.

I used painters plastic to completely seal my tank and I turned off the air intake to the protein skimmer. I also took the day off work so that I could remove the plastic asap. Then I spinkled borax on the areas around the tank that were covered by the tank cover.

It worked well, the fleas died and the reef lives. Take your time with the plastic to ensure the enclosure is completely air tight if you use this method.
