Difference between Vortech Gen1 and Gen2

I am thinking about getting a used Gen 1 Vortech instead of a Gen2. Can anyone tell me the difference between the two? Is it possible for me to just update the driver on the Gen1 and make it into a Gen2?

Also, I will only run one of these on a 24 X 24 X 12 tank, could I still get a wave? For instance, I send a 1000-2000gph current, and produce another current few seconds later after the initial one bounce off the wall and collides with the second one-creating some kind of a surge.

Thanks for the help guys!

You should have posted this in the ecotech forum.

anyway, yeah, you can buy the gen 1 and upgrade the firm to gen 2. Just did that for a friend today with my newly upgraded gen 2.

You should be able to get a wave with that short of a tank. Definitely upgrade to gen 2 before you try though. You have much more control over the speed of the pulse this way.
